A Path Through the Storm

Aussies are here! Zuzu and Arkey's first litter arrived a few days before Halloween during freezing temperatures and our lives turned upside down with a house remodel, career change and a relocation from the Ranch to town as our kitchen flooded when we were out of town. The pups were born in Grandma Honey's cozy shed after a Friday afternoon pep rally. Luckily, Zuzu had practiced snoozing in her whelping box and jumped right in it when the first puppy arrived. Much better than having puppies delivered under under the shed which I think was Zuzu's first choice before she conceded to the whelping box. Whew! Zuzu is a very attentive mama. We were blessed with FIVE yes, FIVE merles and one black tri. Whelping and our first few weeks were made easy with our Ez Whelp box and help from Dr. Gober's Haskell Veterinary Clinic for tail bobbing and dew claw removal.
